On August 30th, 28 golfers played just over 2,100 holes of golf during the 13th Annual WGACSF Golf Marathon. Just a week after it was postponed due to rain on August 23rd, the marathon took place at Waccabuc Country Club in Waccabuc, New York. From 8am-5pm, golfers took to the course and raced around the loop as many times as possible. Sam Probber, a CSF alumnus, completed more holes than anyone else during the day, golfing 119 total. Jay Mottola and Max Breiner of Team Tuxedo also hit 100 holes and Peter Baglieri, Rob Bucci and Haiko Geratz of Team Ardlsey were the other three golfers to hit the century mark.

Last year was a record-setting year for the CSF Golf Marathon and this year has once again broken records. $223,000 was raised by marathon participants, breaking last year’s record of just over $110,000 by more than $100,000.

“These dedicated golfers never cease to amaze us,” said Director of the MGA Foundation Johanna Gavin. “Their determination to play an unusual amount of golf in one day is as fierce as their altruism for the Fund and their support of the local caddie scholars. This year has exceeded our wildest expectations.”

The teams participating in the event were able to smash their fundraising goals and continue to provide incredible amounts of financial aid for deserving young men and women who have worked in service to golf.

In total, seven clubs were represented at the 2021 Golf Marathon. Team Apawamis, Team Ardsley, Team Darien, Team Shorehaven, Team Sunningdale, Team Tuxedo and Team Waccabuc. It was a spectacular showing by each and every club and their members on a record-setting day.

“We rely heavily on the efforts of everyone involved in this event,” said Coordinator of Fundraising and Development Jackie Kielty. “The grassroot fundraising from all our participants is an integral and vital part of our mission.”

Yet again, Joe Pica was able to raise the highest total for this year’s golf Marathon. Though the marathon is complete, the fundraising total will still increase over the next few weeks as the final numbers are collected.

The day was a tremendous success for all involved. Waccabuc was a fantastic host venue for the CSF Golf Marathon and the dedication and fundraising efforts of each golfer involved made for a truly special evening.
