November 15, 2019 – The Clara & Daniel Assumma Memorial Scholarship, funded by the Assumma family since 1995 and formally established as a Named Scholarship, is now the 12th Endowed Scholarship in the WGACSF program.
This named scholarship was created as a tribute to his parents by John Assumma, longtime General Manager of Waccabuc Country Club. In the infancy of the scholarship, an annual family tournament was conducted to fund the scholarship. Though a few scholars have received this special scholarship, the award is restricted to caddies from Waccabuc Country Club who also attend Columbia University.
With the shared approval from John and his siblings, the Assumma Family has announced that the Clara & Daniel Assumma Memorial Scholarship will now be part of the WGACSF’s endowed program. Under similar, but less restrictive guidelines, this scholarship will be awarded to Waccabuc caddies in perpetuity.
The WGACSF plans to award the next Clara & Daniel Assumma Memorial Scholarship recipient for the 2020-21 academic year.
