MGACSF Deadline Fast Approaching


ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 17, 2024)—The 2024 MGA Caddie Scholarship Fund deadline is May 15, four weeks away.

The MGA Caddie Scholarship is available for young men and women who work in service to golf at participating clubs and courses in the Fairfield (C.T.), Bronx, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester (N.Y.) Counties.

A candidate must have completed a minimum of two seasons in “service to golf” at a participating member club. “Service to golf” includes caddieing, working in the golf shop, bag room, practice range, and the golf course superintendent’s crew. A candidate must establish financial need. Finally, a candidate must have applied to or currently attend a university, college, or accredited trade school and demonstrate scholastic ability.

The announcement of scholarship awards for recipients will be on August 1.

In the 2023-24 academic year, 190 recipients were awarded a caddie scholarship. Those recipients represent 52 clubs across New York and Connecticut.

About the MGACSF: The MGA Caddie Scholarship Fund (MGACSF), formerly called the Westchester Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Fund, Inc. (WGACSF), is a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational, nonprofit organization that provides financial need-based scholarships to caddies and others who work in service to golf at local participating golf and country clubs throughout the following counties: Fairfield (Conn.), Bronx, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester (N.Y.) Counties.  

It was founded in 1956 by renowned amateur golfer Willie Turnesa and his good friend Udo Reinach. Today, the Fund awards an average of 250 scholars a year, representing an annual one-year tuition commitment of $1.0 million. The MGA Caddie Scholarship Fund is one of the largest organizations of its kind in the country.
