Local area caddie managers, caddie scholar alumni, and friends of the Fund came together to participate in the 11th Annual WGACSF Golf Marathon held at The Whippoorwill Club in Armonk, NY on Monday, August 26th.  A total of 35 brave golfers played from sun up to sun down to play a collective 2,365 holes!  The pledges collected for this number of holes is estimated to exceed $100,000.

While only in its 11th year of consecutive operation, the Golf Marathon has become and maintained the program’s largest one-day fundraiser and this year is no different.  Much of the success of this event is the result of the initiatives by supportive caddie managers, such as Kyle Sedlacek of Sunningdale Country Club and Joe Pica of Shorehaven Golf Club.  This year, Joe Pica made history by raising more than $45,000 in support of his Marathon goal.

Concurrently, MGA Executive Director Brian Mahoney dedicated his Marathon fundraising efforts to the memory of Mr. Robert J. Bluestone of Rockrimmon Country Club, who passed away in July.  Mahoney has personally committed to helping to establish an endowed scholarship in Rob Bluestone’s name and the Marathon was the first step toward reaching the goal.  This scholarship will honor Rob’s legacy and the tremendous impact he made on the game of golf in this area.
