Leonard M. Marx, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund

The “Leonard M. Marx, Sr. Memorial Scholarship” was established in 2004 in memory of Leonard Marx. Mr. Marx was a longtime member of Sunningdale Country Club, where he earned the title of Club Champion in 1945 and again in 1952—a self-taught golfer. He was an outstanding scholar who graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Sheffield School of Engineering at Yale in 1925 and spent much of his life, until he died at 97 ½ years old in 2002, dedicated to enriching the lives of families and children. Among his passions, besides his own family and his business as a manager and developer of commercial real estate, were education, economic theory, raising chrysanthemums, playing golf, and contract bridge.

This MGACSF endowed scholarship is awarded to a deserving caddie scholar who has worked in the service to golf at Sunningdale Country Club and is made possible by the generosity of the V&L Marx Foundation. Awardees are those in service to golf at Sunningdale Country Club.
