A few of the newest recipients of the prestigious Westchester Evans Scholarship were featured in local publications over the last few weeks. The WGA Caddie Scholarship Fund has partnered with the Evans Scholars Foundation to offer a co-branded “Westchester Evans Scholarship.” The Evans Scholars Foundation is one of the largest providers of college scholarships in the United States, offering full tuition and housing scholarships to certain partner schools.
Vincent DeFeo, Aliyah Thompson and Chase Wirth all caddied at Brooklawn Country Club and are now recipients of the full-tuition, four-year grant. “Having two of my fellow caddies at Brooklawn also receive the Evans Scholarship is pretty incredible. It’s been a great opportunity for us all and having them alongside me has been encouraging,” Wirth said. You can read the full piece on the three scholars here.
Christina Hughes caddied for four years at Quaker Ridge Golf Club and is now heading to Penn State on a full ride thanks to the Evans Scholarship. Hughes will be the first person in her family to go to college. You can read her story here.
The Westchester Evans Scholarships are awarded to a select group of caddies who have a strong caddie record, excellent grades, demonstrated financial need and outstanding character. Applicants are evaluated and compete for a limited number of scholarships awarded annually. For more information, visit the Western Golf Association Evans Scholarship Foundation website here.
