Tommy Goff Outing Raises Over $70,000

The second annual Tommy Goff Memorial Golf Outing was held at Knollwood Country Club and Sunningdale Country Club on September 28th. After holding the event for the first time in 2019, the outing came back this year with another incredibly successful day. Roughly 180 golfers took to the two courses for a day of golf, a night of food and drink and a celebration of Tommy’s life.

Thanks to the generous donations and support from all involved, this year’s event raised over $70,000 in support of the Tommy Goff Memorial Scholarship.

Tommy Goff, who was a member of the WGASCF Class of 2007, passed away suddenly on March 30th, 2019. Tommy began caddieing at Knollwood Country Club in 1999 at the age of 14.
He was an undergrad at Fordham University. Upon graduation, he joined Hudson Valley Bank and shortly thereafter became a member of Knollwood Country Club. However, it was his life-long dream to become a Yonkers police officer. In 2015, Tommy fulfilled his dream and was a police officer for the City of Yonkers for the past three and a half years until he passed away.

Two separate competitions were held during the outing, one at Sunningdale and one at Knollwood. Both competitions featured a Best Ball format. At Sunningdale there was a tie at 64 between the team of John Pilla Jr, Anthony Pilla, Paul Pilla and Ron Romer, and the team of Joseph Salameh, Matthew Calvi, Tommy Chianese and Joseph Reagan. At Knollwood the winners were Sean Duffy, Anthony Fico, Frank McDonald and Ryan Moran.

The first Tommy Goff Memorial Golf Outing was held at three venues–including Knollwood Country Club–to accommodate more than 280 golfers. This was and is still the largest event the WGACSF has ever been a part of, and the overwhelming support from friends, family, and the local community quickly exceeded the fundraising goal. Thanks to the generosity from so many, the inaugural Thomas M. Goff Memorial Scholarship was awarded for the 2020-21 academic year to Sean Kelly from Knollwood Country Club. Sean says that it was Tommy who introduced him to caddieing. With support from this special scholarship, Sean is attending SUNY Buffalo as part of the Class of 2024. Blake Kennedy was also awarded the scholarship starting in the 2021-22 academic year. Kennedy is a caddie at Ardsley, attending Bloomsburg University. Kennedy has said that he wants to give back to his community by becoming a police officer.

After another successful Tommy Goff Memorial Outing it was announced that a third annual Tommy Goff outing will be held next year.
